Welcome to Week 9
Welcome to Week 9
Opportunities for Growth
At Corpus Christi we promote the adage that learning happens anywhere anytime. We consequently offer a broad variety of learning and holistic growth opportunities both in and outside of the classroom.
We know that our students have a wide range of skills at the College and hence we provide a rich array of curricular and co-curricular options. Our strong sporting and club heritage allows our students to explore areas of interest whilst contributing to the ongoing growth of the wonderful culture that exists at our school.
Being involved in a range of different activities helps to develop us as whole people. We develop our skills and capabilities in one area that can then support learning across others. A great example of this was our Senior School Swimming Team who represented us so proudly last week at ACC Swimming Carnival held at HBF Stadium.
This team showed an openness to learning, a commitment to themselves and to one another in attending many weeks of training and high levels of courage and resilience to push through challenges in search of improvement. The team鈥檚 considerable efforts in the lead up to and during the event ultimately led to them winning the Carnival in fine style. The team gained momentum all day and supported one other strongly to surge to a thrilling win by day鈥檚 end.
Led superbly by team captains Talah Carr and Ryan Chai, the swimmers stepped up into events when needed and pushed through exhaustion to give of their best in representing their College. The team is to be commended for the outstanding way that they rose to the challenge and utilised all their learned skills and techniques to perform so strongly.
These students have a wonderful capacity to utilise their skills and capabilities to shine in other areas. They are ready to learn and should have the confidence to know that they can face future challenges by illustrating the same self-regulation, resilience, commitment and growth mindset that they showed in the pool.
Winning the Division B competition last week means Corpus Christi is promoted to compete in the A Division at next year鈥檚 carnival. It is important to acknowledge the excellent support of staff in preparing the team for the event. Well done to Coach Ross with support from the Speed with Style team for their terrific work. A very special mention to Head of Sport Mr James Howard for his extraordinary efforts in preparing the students and promoting the growth of a culture of swimming at the College. Well done to our dedicated HPE team and College staff for their fabulous contribution as always.
In a similar vein, we had another event at the College which saw our students step outside of their comfort zone and stretch their skills through a different type of learning opportunity. Our K-12 College Tour held recently allowed students to assume the role of tour guides where they espoused the attributes and terrific culture of the College to prospective families. The feedback from families was outstanding and our students who participated have every right to be most proud of themselves. We thank them for their commitment and dedication to our school.
The students involved were not provided with a script of any kind, but rather were encouraged to speak from the heart as to what they liked about the College. They used their student voice to good effect and left a wonderful impression on the visitors. Suffice to say, we had lots of people submitting applications to enrol to our school following the event.
The communication, collaboration and relationship building skills that the students demonstrated will stand them in very good stead for future learning. These are important transferable future readiness skills that will allow them to be agile and adaptable in today鈥檚 dynamic landscape.
Finally, we positively reflect on the terrific efforts of our Year 6 Blue students who proudly led our first Junior School Awards Assembly of the year held in the College Theatre last week. These students joyfully led us in song and dance in promoting Harmony Day and a sense of belonging.
Our Year 6 Leaders hosted the assembly with great aplomb, showing terrific courage, positivity and preparedness. We commend them for their leadership and congratulate all our Merit Award recipients for their excellent efforts. We are also very thankful to the many parents, guardians and friends who were present.
Having the courage to step forward to lead, like our Year 6 students did, builds confidence. It grows resilience, promotes innovation and problem solving 鈥 all skills which are compatible to learning across other areas. It develops a sense of service which underpins our vision of being Outstanding for Others.
I have mentioned only a small snapshot of the excellent contribution that our students make to 台灣UUApp and the broad benefits and learnings that are derived from involving themselves fully in the life of the school. The key message here then is for our students to take full advantage of the many different curricular and co-curricular activities on offer at our excellent school.
Best wishes and every blessing.

Stella Lee - Basketball
A huge congratulations to Stella Lee for her outstanding achievement in being selected to represent Willetton stadium in the basketball tournament held in Melbourne!
Stella has truly demonstrated her incredible talent and dedication in the sport, and we are so proud of all that she has achieved. It is a testament to her hard work and perseverance that she has made it to the semi-finals of the tournament with her team.
Stella's success is a reminder to us all that with passion and determination, anything is possible. We have no doubt that she will continue to shine both on and off the court, and we wish her all the best as she continues her basketball journey.
Once again, congratulations Stella on this amazing accomplishment!
Amelia McIvor - School Sport Australia Aquathlon Championship
We are thrilled to share the exciting news that one of our very own students, Amelia McIvor (Year 5), has just returned from an incredible week in Devonport, Tasmania, where she represented our school in the School Sport Australia Aquathlon Championship.
Amelia's hard work and dedication paid off as she competed against some of the best young athletes in the country. Her determination and perseverance earned her an admirable 15th place in the individual competition and an impressive 6th place in the team鈥檚 relay event, in a very competitive field.
Leading up to the event, Amelia underwent intense training and had the opportunity to be coached by some of the best triathletes in the world, including the Australian Dolphins open water coach Mel Tantrum.
Not only did Amelia excel in the competition, but she also had the amazing experience of getting to know other talented athletes from around the country. It's a true testament to her spirit and sportsmanship that she was able to compete at such a high level while also making meaningful connections with her fellow competitors.
We are incredibly proud of Amelia's accomplishments and look forward to seeing where her athletic journey takes her next. Congratulations Amelia, you are an inspiration to us all!
