Triathlon

On Thursday 3 November 85 aspiring Corpus triathletes travelled to Champion Lakes Regatta Centre to compete in the School Sport WA Triathlon Championships.

Competitors who chose to compete in the State Team Selection category completed all three legs over the following distances:

  • Senior: 750m swim / 21km cycle / 5km run

  • Intermediate: 600m swim / 16km cycle / 4km run

  • Junior: 300m swim / 11km cycle / 2km run

Alternatively, competitors chose the Novice Solo event where they completed all legs or the Teams event where a team of three completed one discipline each. Novice and Teams distances were 300m swim / 16km cycle / 3km run.

With 23 teams and 16 individuals entered, ̨ž³UUApp was one of the largest teams present among approximately 30 other schools.

All our athletes are to be commended on their courage and support for one another during the day. The event was a tremendous display of Corpus camaraderie, and we enjoyed some wonderful results along with tremendous satisfaction of making it through a triathlon for many of our team who were new to the event.

The triathlon is a significant logistical operation, and we thank staff who made this possible.

Primary

On Friday 4 November, two of our Primary students, Amelia M (Year 4) and Madison L (Year 5) competed in the WA Primary Schools Triathlon event held at Champion Lakes. The competition was tough and the course very fast. In the individual Aquathon 10 year old girls division, Amelia came 3rd overall and Madison placed 8th, with the fastest swim leg in the division.

Both girls trained incredibly hard and this is a fantastic result. Amelia and Madison are both now eligible to be selected for the Interstate Aquathon event in March 2023.
