Semester 2 Reset Guide

The first half of 2020 was a shock to the system, many of the things we enjoy – or were looking forward to – were cancelled or postponed.

As restrictions began to lift, we returned to on-site schooling in the first half of Term 2, although not everything was back to normal. Many activities were still a no-go.

Life at ̨ž³UUApp will begin to look and feel normal again. You’ve come out the other end, have hopefully had a decent break and can now start Term 3 with more motivation and resilience than ever!

Here are some handy tips on how to reset:

Sign up, show up, level up

Now we can actually have a social life outside of social media, Term 3 is a great opportunity to resume activities or sign up for something new. Did you know Corpus has 50+ clubs and extra-curricular activities?

  • ACC Sports? Get the season started.

  • Academics or special interests? Get the brain going again.

  • Performing arts? Get on stage.

  • Ministry and Christian Service? Get out there and spread the Word.

Since we all know not to take things for granted anymore, put in 110% and get out of your comfort zone. If you’ve never tried an activity or are interested in checking it out, now’s the time. You might even make new friends outside your regular social group or year level.

Even better: you might learn something new and acquire new skills! Something to add to your list of achievements or goals going forward.

Plan the path ahead

Suddenly tests and exams were postponed, Workplace Learning placements or TAFE temporarily suspended. Maybe you had to investigate all the new university rules for Year 12s.

Now we’re back to normal, it’s more important to take a look at where you are and where you’re headed. Were your Semester 1 results in line with what you were expecting? Don’t be too hard on yourself if not – the year isn’t over yet!

As the semester gets underway:

Remember: your teachers and parents are here to help you on your educational journey. You don’t have to do this alone – you’re not in iso anymore!

Stay safe and well

It’s okay to feel like the first half of the year was intense and many will feel sad, anxious, angry or frustrated.

Many of our good habits were tested – did you stop socialising, exercising or eating healthily?

Many of our bad habits crept back – did you start sleeping less, spend too much time online, or get bogged down in negative thoughts?

A new term is a great time to refresh and to start looking after your mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing again:

  • Keep active, fit and moving

  • Spend quality time with friends and family

  • Get enough sleep

  • Eat healthily – cut down on junk food!

  • Be safe online

  • Seek assistance if you need someone to talk to, such as our Psychologists

  • Take care of yourself if you do fall ill or feel sick

  • Pray and serve Jesus’s community

  • Have fun!

Before you know it, you’ll be back to your old pre-isolation self â€“ or even better yet, be a new and improved version of yourself!
