Workplace Learning ̨ž³UUApp
Senior school students undertaking the ̨ž³UUApp Workplace Learning Program continue to go from strength-to-strength, with several students already securing future employment.
Part of the VET/General pathway, the Program affords students the opportunity to gain real world experience – important for building practical skills and gaining valuable insight into career options.
The following employer testimonials are just some of the positive feedback the College has received from placement providers this year:
Ronan McGrath (Year 12) – Electrical – Janisens Electrical
‘Ronan should be extremely proud of the hard work he has put in to being offered this opportunity – we do not offer apprenticeships to every student under the workplace learning program. Ronan has taken the opportunity with both hands and we look forward to him being a part of our team well into the future.’
Adele Hand (Year 11) – Aged Care – Regents Garden
‘Adele is considering a career in Nursing and is currently working with Occupational Therapists in an aged care facility observing nurses within this setting.’
Jacinta Hodge (Year 11) – Hairdressing – Salon Express
‘Jacinta has recently completed a work placement within the Beauty industry and is now trying Hairdressing in order to make some decisions about career preferences. The Workplace Learning Program is really beneficial for students like Jacinta.’
Students themselves also had positive feedback on their Authority Developed Workplace Learning experiences:
Alexander Johnson (Year 10) – Drafting – Summit Homes Group
‘Overall I really enjoyed doing workplace learning at Summit Homes Group and I am really lucky that I had the opportunity to do workplace learning there and learn new things about designing.’
Megan Clarke (Year 10) – Hairdressing – Salon Express
‘I was fortunate enough to have experienced so many different things. I learned what a day in a life of a hairdresser is (which is a lot of work).’
Bianca Noteboom (Year 12) – Hairdressing – Definitions Hair Studio
‘After spending some time learning new skills and techniques and interacting with other people in the field, I have come to realise this is what I would enjoy doing in the future. It worked out really well for me – I am doing my apprenticeship there next year.’
We look forward to the continued success of our students and thank all our host employers for supporting the program.
